We The People Must Stand

I have been thinking about the state of our union, I cannot help but wonder how we became so busy as patriots and forgot the power we have at the ballot box. I recently attended a GOP meeting and someone asked me, “what do you think about our current federal representative?” Of course, my immediate response was, his stance and vote for the Red Flag laws was significant. Then considering the question all night and listening to an interview he completed that same day; I am more troubled than before. Not only did he vote “yes” on the initial Red Flag laws, but he voted “yes” to pass the Assault Rifle Ban. Wow, nearly in the same breath, he was trying to convince me and his constituents that he is a constitutionalist. Let us be clear, constitutionalists would never vote yes on anything that directly violates our Second Amendment which is, the right to bear and carry arms.

The problem politicians have is they believe the American people are not smart enough to see through the rhetoric. They should not vote “yes” because they do not think the Bill will pass the Senate, and therefore, the American people would dismiss it. Using this same logic, you do not get to bring Bills to the floor when you know it is dead-on arrival. My point in bringing this up is, we must get back to electing officials that will represent our interest unequivocally. Not just a “yes-man” or someone who “plays along to get along.”

President Ronald Reagan and President Donald Trump shared their love for the United States of America. They governed with authority without fear or compromise. Remember the next time you cast a ballot, keep this question in mind; will the person I am casting my vote for stand and represent us, the American people, without fear and fight for our rights that our Forefathers fought for us to have?
